Police Sports Club Vs Galle Cricket Club
Galle began day 03 proceedings at Police Park grounds, Colombo on 34/1. It was wicket-keeper batsman Sameen Kandanearachchi’s brilliant 105 that bound the Galle innings together. He went on to score his second century in his 39 matches long first-class career, but it wasn’t enough to take Galle anywhere close to Police’s mammoth first innings score of 359.
Battling hard, Galle lower order put up a courageous fight to stay in the wicket to see stumps late in the day restricting Police of winning first innings points. Though Sri Lanka Test Cap Dinuk Hettiarachchi had other ideas, as he dismissed 5 of the Galle batters to restrict them for 290/9, the last pair of Galle hung in tight, as if their life depend on it, to make an even draw.
