The final round of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Premier League – Tier A Super Eights kicked off around the island today (07).

Tamil Union vs Saracens SC
Half centuries from Manoj Sarathchandra, Sithara Gimhan and Tharanga Paranavithana guided Tamil Union to 287/6 in their encounter against Saracens SC.
While wicket-keeper batsman Sarathchandra went on to remain unbeaten on 56*, Gimhan and Paranavithana fell soon after reaching their half centuries.
Saracens bowlers toiled hard as the wickets were shared around and they kept things in control for most parts of the opening day.

Colts vs Army SC

A career best 141 from Dananjaya Lakshan put Colts in control in their match against Army Sports Club.
The former Richmondite seemed to be in the form of his life as he struck the ball to all parts of the ground.
He got good support from Vishad Randika who remained unbeaten on 106*, while Avishka Fernando’s great run of form continued as he made an entertaining 75 runs.
Asela Gunaratne was a pleasant name to be seen on the soldiers scoresheet and he was the only successful bowler capturing 2 of the 4 wickets to falls

The promising Pathum Nissanka ticked off another landmark during the 2018/19 season as he went past the 1000 run mark in just 7 games.
He is the second player to achieve the feat this season, with Oshada Fernando being the first man – who would eventually be picked for Sri Lanka’s tour of South Africa.
It was Nissanka’s fourth century to go along with three other half centuries, as NCC racked up 367/6 on the opening day.
Mahela Udawatte’s stunning 146* not out almost went unnoticed as Nissanka’s milestone was the main focus, but Udawatte dominated the CCC bowlers throughout the day and seemed to be in line to reach the 15th double century this season.
Ashan Priyanjan and Lahiru Madusanka bowled best for CCC – who are at the top of the standings -as they captured two wickets apiece.

SSC vs Chilaw Marians 

Half centuries for Akash Senaratne, Sammu Ashan and Sachithra Senanayake put SSC in the driving seat in their encounter against defending champions Chilaw Marians.
Senanayake went on to remain unbeaten on 81* while Himesh Ramanayake remained unbeaten on 21*, as SSC made 341/7 in 91 overs.
Pulina Tharanga and Sagar Paresh were the pick of the bowlers for Chilaw Marians as they shared six wickets among them.
