Here’s a round up of the Super 8 matches in the SLC Tier A Premier League matches which took place today. 

Colts vs Tamil Union

The match between Colts and Tamil Union was evenly poised at stumps on day 3 at Panagoda. Tamil Union was given a target of 462 runs and they were 203 for 4 at close of play. Sithira Gimhan was unbeaten on 79 runs. Gimhan and Manoj Sarathchandra added 87 runs for the 3rd wicket with Manoj scoring 59 runs. 

Early on in the day, Colts made 411 for their second innings. Four players got into 80’s but failed to reach triple figures. Sadeera top scored with 93, Priyamal Perera scored a brisk 88 with 4 sixes and 11 fours. Vishad Randika scored a well composed 84 and Angelo Jayasinghe scored 81. 

Earlier in the match, Colts were bowled out for 218 runs with Dulanjan Mendis taking 5 wickets for Tamil Union. In reply Tamil Union could only make 168 runs with Ishan Jayarathne taking 5 for 40.

Chilaw Marians vs Ragama 

Ragama were just 74 runs behind in registering an outright victory against Chilaw Marians. They were given a solitary target of just 188 runs in their second innings. They started off well with Lahiru Milantha and Janith Liyanage adding 62 runs for the first wicket. Janith lost his wicket for 23 but Lahiru went on to make an unbeaten 44 before the end of play. 

Early on in the day, Sahan Nanayakkara’s 7 wicket haul helped Ragama clean up Chilaw Marians for just 295 in their second innings. Sachithra Serasinghe, Mahela Udawatte and Maduka Liyanapathiranage scored half centuries for Chilaw but the deficit in the first innings was too high, half centuries weren’t enough to put them to safety. 

Early on in the match, Chilaw Marians were bowled out for 168 runs thanks to a five-for from Nilanka Premarathne. In reply Ragama made 276 runs with Saminda Fernando scoring 93 runs at the top

NCC vs Army

NCC ended their Premier League with a convincing 176 run victory against Army at SSC grounds. The soldiers were given a mammoth target of 308 runs but they struggled from the beginning. The only two batsmen who showed resistance were Lakshitha Madushan and Dushan Vimukthi who scored 39 and 31 respectively. Lasith Embuldeniya was the pick of the bowlers with 4 wickets as Army got bundled out for just 131 runs. 

Early on, NCC posted 268 runs for their first innings with half centuries from Angelo Perera and Thimira Jayasinghe. In reply Army could only make 227 all out as Chathuranga De Silva and Sachintha Peiris shared 4 wickets each. NCC made 266 runs for their second innings and gave a target of 308 runs for the Soldiers.
