A rain-affected affair at Reid Avenue saw Mahinda College claim first innings points against hosts Royal College in their U 19 tournament encounter today.

Winning the toss, the hosts decided to field first in a late start on day 1. Mahinda College piled up 230 runs, led by Suresh Kumara’s half ton. Shan Tennekoon grabbed 5 wickets while Lasith Embuldeniya retained his fine form by capturing 3 scalps.
The batting woes continued for Royal as they were restricted to 53/3 at stumps before the visitors bowled them out for 195 on the following day. Helitha Vithanage scored 50 while Navin Vidanapathirana chipped in with 46. For Mahinda College, Vinura Dulsara and Kandamby shared 7 wickets between them.
