Kanrich, John Keells ‘B’, Seylan and LB record wins on day four

Kanrich Finance managed a convincing 6 wicket win over Commercial Bank to make it two out of two while John Keells ‘B’ (JKH ‘B’) recorded their second win of the season beating Singer Sri Lanka by a narrow 5 run margin. Seylan Bank registered their first win of the campaign beating Pan Asia Bank by 5 wickets and finally LB Finance continued their unbeaten run beating MAS Holdings by 63 runs in the Mercantile Division ‘B’ tournament.

Commercial Bank vs Kanrich Finance

Winning the toss and electing to bowl, Kanrich Finance made early in roads through the Commercial bank batting and restricted them to a low 195 in 49.5 overs. Opener Lasitha Nanayakkara top scored with a sluggish 41 off 111 balls while Number 10 Sachinda Gunawardena was the only other batsman to pass the 30 run mark.

Anurudda (2/26), Pramod Madushanka (2/30) and Roshan Laksiri (2/33) bagged 6 wickets between them as they rattled out the Commercial Bank batting.

Kanrich Finance made easy work of their target chasing it down within 25 overs. Opener Kasun Vidura top scored as he anchored the Kanrich batting through to the end. Fellow opener Shehan Fernando made a quick half century off just 35 balls while Damith Priyadharshana made 49 off just 32 balls to guide Kanrich to victory. Prathab De Silva managed 2 for 33 for Commercial Bank with the ball.

JKH ‘B’ vs Singer Sri Lanka

Winning the toss and batting, JKH managed a rather competitive 195 in 32 overs as the game was a reduced contest. Ashan Peiris scored better than a run-a-ball 88 as he helped JKH to their total. Sasindu Perera made an immense contribution as he scored 52 for JKH.

Hashan Wickramasooriya (4/27) and Zenith Wickramanayake (3/30) rattled the Singer batting, eventually bundling them out for 190 in 31.2 overs. Lakshan coming into bat at number 7 made a valiant effort scoring a swift 63 but it was too little too late as regular wickets hampered the Singer batting to hand JKH a slender 5 run win.

PABC vs Seylan Bank

Seylan Bank won the toss and elected to Bowl first on a bowling friendly surface. Seylan Bank made immense use of the track as Gayan Sirisoma (4/22) and Kanchana Gunawardena (4/36) ran through the PABC batting, bowling them out for just 142 in 41 overs. Thusith Silva was the solitary batsman to pass the 20 run mark scoring 47 in 64 balls.

Seylan Bank did not break a sweat reaching their target losing just 5 wickets in the process. Former Sri Lankan left handed batsman Tharanga Paranavitana top scored for Seylan Bank scoring 43 off just 38 balls to guide the Bankers to victory.

LB Finance vs MAS Silueta

After being inserted to bat first LB Finance made a reasonable score of 251 as Chathuranga Kumara revived an innings that was drifting towards an early end. Coming in to bat six down when the score was at 122, Chathuranga made a brilliant 116 off just 58 balls as he smashed the MAS bowling all around the park.

Following the assault from Chathuranga MAS never looked in the match as they were bundled out for just 188 in 43.2 overs. Taneesha Weerakoon picked 3 for 34 as Rajeewa Weerasinghe (2/14) and Charith Sudaraka (2/37) took 2 wickets apiece as LB finance reached a 63 run win.
