Kandy Rugby Academy off to Paris

The Kandy Rugby Academy Under 16 team will take flight to Paris to participate in the Paris World Games that will be played on the 7th and 8th of July 2018.

Established in 2014, the Kandy Rugby Academy serves as proving grounds for budding players in the Kandy region and currently has over 50 players from different age groups. With an experienced coaching panel that consists of former greats in the sport as well, the academy serves as an important stronghold in the rugby frenzied hill capital.

The team that will take flight to Paris later this week is set to play the invitation tournament which will feature teams from all around the world alongside the regional teams of France. The Kandy Rugby Academy will be the Sri Lankan representation and will participate in the under 16 category.

The team is coached by former Kandy Sports Club veteran Kishore Jehan who was a standout at prop in the Kandy colours.

Speaking to ThePapare, Kishore added the following on the tour.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters as the Kandy Rugby Academy players will play in France and this should be a good experience for the touring team”

The Sri Lanka national sevens team will also participate in the Paris World Games and will be playing the top tier with the regional clubs in Paris as a final prep for the Asian Games.
