Royal College, Colombo beat the defending champions Nalanda College by 98 runs to advance to the quarter-finals of the Singer under 15 Division 1 Cricket tournament at the Royal College junior grounds in Colombo.

Royal College dominated proceedings with power performances by Sandun Amantha (75) and Isiwara Dissanayake (63).

Nalanda College won the toss and elected to bowl, on what seemed like a cloudy morning. The Royalists coming out to bat first were powered by knocks from Sandun Amantha, who contributed 75 runs and Isiwara Dissanayake with 63 runs to reach a total of 311 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs.

The Nalandians coming out to bat after been battered in the field looked shaken after a mammoth target been set to chase. Wickets started to trumble around the Nalandians, the only silver lining been Ravin de Silva’s 60 runs. However Ravin’s heroics were futile as wickets were falling frequently and the Nalandians eventually submitting for 213 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs.
