Colts vs Army SC

A fighting century from Asela Gunaratne wasn’t enough for the soldiers, as his team lost by 10 wickets against the dominant Colts CC outfit who finished 4th in the tournament.

Gunaratne’s 123 along with Dilshan de Soyza’s 139 dragged the game late into day four, but Nisala Tharaka’s three-wicket haul meant Army could secure only a 40 run lead after crashing to 168 all-out in their first innings. Colts wasted no time in achieving their target with Priyamal Perera making a swift 29* not out as they got there in just 9 overs.

SSC vs Chilaw Marians

The rivalry between Chilaw Marians and SSC continued to grow after a close tussle for the title last year, as this year’s encounter ended in a thrilling three-wicket win for the defending champions, Chilaw Marians.

Set 366 for victory on a tricky surface on the final day, the Marians romped home late in the day with centuries from Nimesh Vimukthi and Risith Upamal leading the way.

Sachithra Senanayake and Himesh Ramanayake’s three-wicket hauls kept the Marians in-check throughout the run chase, but the positive intent of the winning team proved to be too strong in the end as they made 368/7 in just 98 overs.
