The International Cricket Council has denied claims made on Tuesday (January 9) by Sri Lanka Cricket that it has cleared the SLC in an anti-corruption investigation.
SLC, on Tuesday (January 11), had claimed that the governing body had found no evidence of wrongdoing against them following allegations of match-fixing and other forms of corruption. The ICC, however, clarified that the investigations are very much still on.

“The investigations are ongoing and the ICC don’t comment on live investigations,” an ICC spokesman told Cricbuzz from Dubai, where its headquarters are located.
The investigation had started last September after former former Sri Lanka player, Promodaya Wickremasinghe claimed there were corrupt practices during Sri Lanka’s ODI series loss to Zimbabwe in June-July 2017.
Immediately after, all of Sri Lanka’s contracted players wrote a letter to SLC, asking the board to probe the allegations. The ICC initiated its probe into the matter a day later.
On Tuesday, Ashley de Silva, SLC chief, had said that the ICC anti-corruption investigators visited the island in September to conduct a wide-ranging inquiry and indicated that the ICC had cleared them after their investigation.
“They do not put out statements after an inquiry, but if there is anything adverse, they would inform us. To date, they have not told us of anything (against Sri Lankan players or officials),” de Silva had told reporters.
