Group encounters in the Singer Schools U-19 Division 1 two-day cricket tournament 2017/18 have been completed, but few traditional matches were worked off today around the island.

St. Peter’s College recorded a 54 run victory over St. Anthony’s College today at St. Anthony’s College grounds. Left arm spinner Ameen Miflal took 10 wickets and right arm fast medium bowler Santhush Goonathilake grabbed 7 wickets in the match playing a key role with the ball for St. Peter’s victory.

Royal College comprehensively defeated Wesley College by 131 runs today at Wesley College grounds. Wesley College had to chase down 278 runs to win the match but they were bundled out for 146 runs. Themal Bandara was the star performer with the ball for Royal as he picked up 7 wickets for 53 runs in the match.

Trinity College recorded a first innings win over S. Thomas’ College in the drawn match which concluded today at the historic Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy. Pubudu Bandara of Trinity College scored half tons in each innings with an aggregate of 144 runs. In the bowling department, Vimukthi Nethumal starred for Trinity College picking up 5 wickets for 75 runs in the match.
