Sri Lanka Women U19 made an impressive start to the One-Day Tri-Series in Australia, registering a comfortable victory over England Women U19 in their opening encounter. 

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bat first and managed to post a modest total of 170 runs on the board. Despite a few early setbacks, the middle-order steadied the innings with a valuable contribution from Limansa Thilakarathne, who top-scored with a composed 51 off 85 deliveries, including two boundaries and a six. 

Coming in at No. 6, Shashini Gimhani provided crucial support with a fighting 39 runs, helping Sri Lanka build a competitive total. 

For England, Trudy Johnson was the standout performer with the ball, producing an excellent spell to claim 4 wickets for just 9 runs, keeping the Sri Lankan total within reach. 

In response, England Women U19 struggled against Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling attack and were eventually bowled out for 118 runs. 

The Lankan bowlers dominated proceedings, with Aseni Thalagune and Chamodi Praboda leading the charge. Both bowlers claimed three wickets each, dismantling the English batting lineup and sealing a convincing victory for Sri Lanka.
