Wesley fail again in their quest to find that one illusive win

Wesley College came out on the losing side again as they failed to unnerve a well gelled St. Sylvester College Kandy.

Sylvester College won the toss and invited Wesley to bat on a bowling surface at the Pallakale International Stadium Kandy.

Wesley College’s batting failed to come good yet again as they were bowled out for just 158 in their first innings. Ever reliable Reshana Senavirathne top scored with 55 while Captain Jonathan Cadiramanpulle chipped in with 33 valuable runs to steady the Wesley ship somewhat. Nimesha Mendis and Sivakumar Tiron bagged four wickets each for Sylvester’s.

Batting in their first innings St. Sylvesters College Kandy declared their innings at 201 for the loss of 9 wickets in 72.4 overs. Malith Premathilake was the pick of the batsman as he top scored with 70 and Nimesha Mendis scored 41. Andrew Prayas picked 3 for 48 while Captain Jonathan managed to pick 3 wickets.

Wesley’s ship was sinking but the game drew to a close on day 2 with Wesley at 98 for 6 in 41 overs. Thushith Zoysa picked 3 for 38 for Sylvester’s.
