Here’s a round up of the matches which took place today in the Singer U15 Division I Cricket Tournament.

St. Joseph’s College v Gurukula College

St. Joseph’s College cruised their way to a first innings victory against Gurukula College at Maradana today. After been put to bat first, the home side posted a mammoth 303 for 2 before their declaration. Shevon Daniel top scored with an unbeaten 175 in very quick succession which helped the Joes to post 300 in just 31 overs. In reply, Gurukula could only manage 136 as Yuvin Athukorala bagged 6 wickets.

St. Peter’s cruised to a comfortable first innings victory against S. Thomas College at Bambalapatiya today. After winning the toss and electing to field first, the seamers bundled out the visitors for just 96 runs. In reply at stumps, St Peter’s College were 220 for 7 with Nimuthu Gunawardane top scoring with an unbeaten 58.

DS Senanayake College v Sri Dharmaloka College

Abishek Liyanarachchi’s century helped DSS put together a dominant performance against Dharmaloka College at the Railway Grounds. After been asked to bat first, DSS batsmen wasted no time in scoring as they cruised to 235 for 6 in just 33.4 overs before the declaration. In reply, it was a matter of survival for the boys from Kelaniya who ended up 83 for 8 when bad light stopped play.

This group D clash ended with the boys from Kotte taking major honors. The match was played at Katana and it was the Thomians who won the toss and elected to field first. They managed to restrict the Peterites for just 154 runs with Achitha Kavinda taking 7 wickets. In reply, they were 162 for 8 at stumps registering a well deserved first innings victory.

Richmond College Galle registered first innings victory against Sri Devananda College at Balapitya Training College grounds today. Richmond College won the toss and elected to field first. Hasindu Kavishka’s brilliance with the ball bundled out Sri Devananda for just 141 runs. Richmond College in reply were 151 for 5 at stumps.
