The eleventh day of the Carlton Basketball Championships commenced with the battle of the two favourites Colombo Basketball Club and the home team HSC Blues.
The encounters between these two team s through-out the history have been proven for nail biting finishes and today to the encounter proved the word. When the clock ran out the score board was in the favour of the visitors Colombo BC 79-62.
Colombo BC and HSC Blues always are two teams which matches each other`s pros and cons on a commendable manner. Yet, yesterday HSC blues never showed signs of settling down into the game until the last quarter. The time was far more ahead of them and they could not overcome it due to the mistakes they made during the latter part of the game.
Sudesh Ahamed and Gayan Croos played good minutes of basketball on the post and the HSC Blue`s post players did not clearly adjust and defence accordingly. The point guard and the forwards were feeding the ball into Sudesh Ahmed who indeed took the defender`s in surprise when he swept them away scoring most of the points in the game.
The other main factor that differentiated the two teams was the passing of the ball among the players on the floor. Harshadeva De Silva the Colombo skipper made good ball movement and created play after play to score off and convert them to points which took the lead beyond hand. Rebounds never came down handy for the home boys.
It was expected to be a nail biting finish but Colombo BC secured the win at ease when they lead the by seventeen points at the end of the playing minutes.
