The U23 Emerging Club Cricket Tournament 2025 commenced today (5th August) with 11 games happening on the opening day.
The spotlight shone brightly on Mineth Premarathne of Bloomfield Cricket & Athletic Club and Pulindu Perera of Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club, who delivered majestic centuries to set the tone for the tournament.
Premarathne was in scintillating form, scoring an unbeaten 158 runs off 215 balls, including 21 fours, against Kandy Customs Sports Club.
Similarly, Perera dazzled for Nugegoda Sports & Welfare Club, smashing 151 runs off 240 balls with 14 fours and 4 sixes against Malay Cricket Club, showcasing both elegance and power.

The opening day also saw other batters rise to the occasion. Darshaka Sandeep and Sakuna Liyanage of Chilaw Marians Cricket Club, Rashmika Hirushan Perera of Police Sports Club, and Jeewaka Sashin of Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) each notched up centuries, underlining the depth of batting talent in the U23 circuit.
While the batters dominated headlines, the bowlers were equally impressive. Tharushka Ashel of Burgher Recreation Club and Ruvishan Perera of Galle Cricket Club emerged as the standout performers, each claiming a sensational six-wicket haul.
Meanwhile, Ryan Dissanayake of Colts Cricket Club and Kaveesh Sathsara of Malay Cricket Club also made their mark, each picking up five wickets to keep their teams in contention.
