U23 Cricket – SSC, NCC, Moors and SL Ports Authority claim outright wins

The week four matches of the Sri Lanka Cricket Under 23 Division One Tournament ended on Sunday with outright victories for Sinhalese Sports Club, Nondescript Cricket Club, Moors Sports Club and Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club. 

SSC vs CCC

Defending Champions, Sinhalese Sports Club recorded a stunning 10-wicket win over Colombo Cricket Club at Maitland Crescent.

The main highlights of the game were the century of right-hander Ramesh Mendis, all-round performance of skipper Sanka Ramesh and double-arm bowler Tharindu Rathnayake taking 7 wickets in the second innings for the visitors.

CCC – 104 all out in 40.3 overs: Lisula Lakshan 26, Sanka Ramesh 2/14, Binura Fernando 2/34.

SSC – 313 all out in 79.3 overs: Ramesh Mendis 114, Sanka Ramesh 95, Dulanjana Snevirathna 5/107.

CCC (2nd inn) – 217 all out in 70.1 overs: Pramod Hettiwatta 58, Hashan Dumindu 37, Tharindu Rathnayaka 7/69.

SSC (2nd inn) – 9 for no loss in 1.2 overs.

 

NCC vs Air Force 

Nondescript Cricket Club got their campaign on the track again by beating the Airmen by an innings and 4 runs at Katunayake.

Left-handed middle-order batsman, Milan Abeysekara regained his form scoring a terrific century while off-spinner Sachintha Peiris claimed a 9-wicket match bag to help his club win the match comprehensively.

NCC – 382 all out in 77.2 overs: Milan Abeysekara 118, Niroshan Dickwella 80, Sachintha Pieris 35, Gayashan Silva 4/85.

Air Force – 187 all out in 64 overs: Sanjaya Jayasekara 57, Shehan Shashika 29*, Lahiru Kumara 30, Sandun Weerakkody 2/25, Sachintha Pieris 3/56, Harith Samarasinghe 3/60.

Air Force (2nd Inn F/O) – 191 all out in 50 overs: Sachika Udara 50, Sandun Weerakkody 4/51, Sachintha Pieris 6/61.

 

Moors vs Saracens

Moors Sports Club held their nerve to claim a thrilling 3-wicket win over Saracens Sports Club at Braybrooke Place.

Moors lost 7 wickets while chasing a tricky 213 runs to win in the final day. Dilshan Ranasinghe and Shanuka Dulaj stroked brilliant half-tons. Left-arm spinners, Sandakan Pathirana & Chanaka Devinda starred with the ball for their respective clubs.

Saracens – 187 all out in 41.5 overs: Thanuka Dabare 70, Damith Priyadharshana 34, Sandakan Pathirana 2/75, Sanitha de Mel 2/20, Sangeeth Cooray 2/34.

Moors – 209 all out in 52.3 overs: Prashan Rathnayaka 56, Sandakan Pathirana 49, Poorna Aluthge 3/25, Shehan Madusanka 4/51, Chanaka Davinda 3/46.

Saracens (2nd inn) – 231 all out in 56.3 overs: Duleeka Tisakuttige 56, Sajeewa Salgado 62,Tharushan Iddamalgoda 37, Sandakan Pathirana 5/93, Sangeeth Cooray 2/52, Shanuka Dulaj 3/33.

Moors (2nd inn) – 213/7 in 53.5 overs: Dilshan Ranasinghe 60, Shanuka Dulaj 58, Chanaka Davinda 6/64.

 

SL Ports Authority vs Negombo

Irresponsible batting by the boys from Negombo Cricket Club helped Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club register a comfortable 10-wicket win at Kadirana.

Chanuka Dilshan picked up 9 wickets in the whole match to dent Negombo CC’s cause while Sri Lanka under 19 player, Wanindu Hasaranga played a gem of an innings for SL Ports Authority.

SL Ports – 255 all out in 59 overs: Wanindu Hasaranga 74, Hamuduranga Rajapaksha 30, Navod Kalansuriya 47, Ishan Rangana 31, Praveen Dilanka 5/58, Dinan Fernando 4/75.

Negombo – 95 all out in 41.5 overs: Sandaruwan Rodrigo 36*, Chalanaka Weerasinghe 3/19, Chanuka Dilshan 3/25.

Negombo (2nd inn F/O) – 160 all out in 49.3 overs: Lahiru Wickramasinghe 44, Akil Inham 31, Sewvinda Silva 39, Chanuka Dilshan 6/51.

SL Ports (2nd inn) – 1 for no loss in 1 ball.

 

Moratuwa vs Ragama

Former St. Sebastian College skipper Anushka Perera starred with the bat for his hometown club Moratuwa Sports Club as they earned first-innings honours in their drawn game against Ragama Cricket Club at Tyronne Fernando Stadium.

Only two days of play was possible in the match with second day’s proceedings being hampered by rain without a ball being bowled. The hosts’ made a commendable 253 before the visitors despite half tons scored by Thilaksha Sumanasiri and Supeshala Jayatileke succeeded to muster a score of only 186 runs.

Moratuwa – 253 all out in 69.3 overs: Vidusha Jayasinghe 24, Lakshina Rodrigo 23, Anushka Perera 99, Woshantha Silva 38, Amila Aponso 5/98, Sahan Nanayakkara 2/56.

Ragama – 180 all out in 58.1 overs: Thilaksha Sumanasiri 54, Supeshala Jayathilaka 52, Malinga de Silva 2/71, Thilan Nimesh 4/63.

Moratuwa (2nd inn) – 109/4 in 23 overs: Anushka Perera 35, Hasitha Lanka 25*, Sahan Nanayakkara 2/30.

 

Panadura vs SL Navy 

Panadura Sports Club had to contain with only a first-innings win over Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club in their drawn encounter played at Panadura Esplanade grounds.

Navy spin twins, Ashan Ranasinghe and Yohan Soyza shared 17 wickets amongst them while the hosts’ batsman Umeshka Morais excelled with the bat.

Panadura – 204 all out in 54.3 overs: Umeshka Morais 85, Sasindu Madusanka 28, Anju Tharaka 21, Mohamed Shilmi 20, Sansaka Fernando 17, Ashan Ranasinghe 8/74.

Navy – 186 all out in 53 overs: Lahiru Jayakody 70, Yohan Soyza 43, Madura Madusanka 32, Lahiru Sanjaya 4/63, Sasindu Madusanka 2/28, Shanaka Perera 2/53.
