The week 3 matches of the SLC under 23 division one tournament 2015 commenced on Thursday with Sinhalese Sports Club hosting Colts Cricket Club in a crunch battle.
SSC skipper Sanka Ramesh won the toss and elected to bat first on a placid surface. Two young left-handers namely, Charith Asalanka and Minod Bhanuka completely took the game away from the visitors smashing elegant centuries to help the hosts’ post 360 runs on the scoreboard.
Sri Lanka under 19 captain Asalanka took 171 balls for his 126 which comprised 13 fours and 4 sixes. Bhanuka, the latest entrant to the Sri Lanka A team for the New Zealand tour justified his selection knocking a smooth 192-ball 137 and he made 14 fours and 3 sixes from his bat.
Left-arm spinner Chirath Mapatuna was the pick of the bowlers claiming 4 for 65 while off-spinner Priyamal Perera captured 2 scalps.
Colts had to face only one over and they managed it without any loss of wickets.
The match will be continued tomorrow (21st August).
