Three traditional encounters of the U19 Schools Cricket tournament were played today (05th May) at Colombo and Moratuwa.

The traditional encounter between Royal College and Ananda College ended in a draw today at Ananda College Grounds, Colombo. The hosts resumed their first innings on day two at 103/1 and posted 332/9 in reply to Royal College’s 404/6 in their first innings.
Nethma Karunarathne (69) and Pulindu Kiriella (54*) were the chief contributors with the bat for Ananda College. The left-arm spinner Gishan Balasooriya (3/79), Sineth Jayawardana (2/05) and Sadisha Rajapaksha (2/84) starred with the ball for the visitors.
The traditional encounter between Prince of Wales College and Isipathana College ended in a draw but witnessed a thrilling finish at Moratuwa. Having begun the second innings 99 runs behind, Isipathana College managed to display a better batting effort to set a target of 133 runs to win for the hosts.

Randunu Ganganath who top-scored for the visitors in the first innings once again delivered with the bat scoring a crucial knock (88) under pressure. Chasing 133 runs to win, the Cambrians were stuttering with the bat as they made 117 runs losing 8 wickets.
Meanwhile, the traditional encounter between Nalanda College and Thurstan College commenced today at Thurstan College Grounds, Colombo. After been put into bat first, the visitors posted 174/6 at the close of play on day one.
