Mahith Perera and Romesh Mendis saved S. Thomas’ College as they took the first innings honors against St. John’s College after having been stuttering with the bat on day one.

After conceding 285 runs to Isipathana College in their first innings, St. Servatius’ College made a great comeback, posting 316/8. Vishwa Supun (61*), Kushan Wijerama (58) and Denuwan Pramod (58) stroked valuable half centuries with the bat for St. Servatius’ College.

Thomas’ College, who were stuttering at 75/5 at stumps on day one, came back strongly with the bat on day two, putting on 279 runs for their first innings. Mahith Perera (101*) and Romesh Mendis (92) who starred with the bat, were the saviors of Thomian innings.

St. Anthony’s College continued their domination over Kingswood College for the second day as they snatched an outright victory in their traditional encounter, which ended today at St. Anthony’s College Ground, Kandy.

After restricting Kingswood College for just 99 runs for their first innings, the Antonians declared their second innings on 49/5 setting a massive target of 310 for the opposition. The visitors once again failed with the bat as they were bowled out for just 152 runs handing a 157-run victory for Antonians.

Two more traditional encounters began today at Sooriyawewa and Galle as Devapathiraja College and Dharmasoka College locked horns with Gurukula College and Mahinda College respectively.

Devapathiraja College’s Sasanka Nirmal (105) and Manasa De Silva (86) of Dharmasoka College stood above the rest with exceptional performances with the bat.
