A few traditional matches of the U19 Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (28th March), at several venues in Sri Lanka.

St. Joseph’s College beat Mahinda College in a traditional match which was held today at Mahinda College Grounds, Galle.

The Mahindians showcased poor performances in both innings by being bowled out for 127 & 142 respectively, courtesy of Lahiru Amarasekara’s 11-wicket haul in the match.

The Josephians batted much better as they managed to post 255/9 before declaring the innings with Muditha Dissanayake and Skipper Sadeesh Jayawardene stroking valuable fifties. With the massive first innings lead, they needed only 15 to win and they got it in just 8 balls to record a 10-wicket win.

In the other traditional games, the Trinitians’ Kusal Wijethunga blasted a massive 165, along with Dinusha Peiris who scored 105, while Dinuka Thennakoon registered yet another 5-wicket haul against Maris Stella.
