Eight 2-day encounters of the U19 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament were played today (06th January) at several venues across the island.
Thurstan College claimed first innings points against Dharmaraja College in their Tier ‘B’ two-day encounter ended in a draw today at Thurstan College Grounds in Colombo.
Vihas Thewmika’s brilliant century helped the hosts claim the honors in the drawn encounter. Coming to bat at No. 6, Thewmika stroked unbeaten 103 runs off 200 balls with 9 fours to his name.
St. Servatius College registered first innings win in the drawn Tier ‘B’ two-day encounter against Lumbini College today at BRC Grounds in Colombo. Vishwa Supun’s classy half-century took the boys from Matara to 294 for their first innings.

In reply, Lumbini College posted only 290 runs falling just 4 runs for their first innings. Malith Kawindu and Yasiru Yugath were the star performers for Lumbini College as they brought up half-centuries. However, St. Servatius College faltered with the bat in their 2nd essay being bowled out for just 101 runs.
The traditional encounter between Royal College and St. Anthony’s College commenced today at Royal College Grounds in Colombo. Having been asked to bat first, the hosts posted a solid total (286/7) on the board for their first innings.
Rehan Peiris, Uvindu Weerasekara and Mario Jayawardana stroked half-centuries while Kaveesha Piyumal starred with the ball for the visitors taking 3 wickets for 79 runs. In reply, the Antonians posted 73 runs for 1 wicket at stumps on day one.
