Mahinda College qualify for Limited Over Quarter Finals

The Limited Over Pre-Quarter Final between Mahinda College and St. Thomas’ College and three traditional encounters of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Two Day Cricket Tournament 2019/20 were played today across the island.

St. Thomas’ College, Matara vs Mahinda College, Galle

Mahinda College managed to qualify for the Quarter Finals of the Singer Schools ‘Under 19 Division 1’ Limited Over Cricket Tournament as they defeated St. Thomas’ College today at Uyanwattha Stadium in Matara. After winning the toss, St. Thomas’ College chose to bat first but posted only 106 runs in 31.2 overs. 

The left-arm spinner Kushan Madusha and Kavindu Lakshan excelled with the ball taking 3 scalps each for Mahinda College. Chasing 107 runs to win, the visitors lost quick wickets but the experienced left-hander Navod Paranavithana (69) stood calm and guided his side to victory in 22.4 overs.

Sri Lanka U19 capped Amshi De Silva and Dilum Sudeera starred with the ball as Richmond College comprehensively defeated Maliyadeva College in their traditional encounter which ended today at Welagedara Stadium in Kurunegala.

The traditional encounter between St. Anne’s College and St. Anthony’s College ended in a draw today at St. Anne’s College Grounds in Kurunegala. The hosts managed to take major honors in the drawn encounter thanks to the performances of Muizz Rafeel (83) and Manaan Muzammil (4/65).

Prabath Sachin stroked a brilliant century for the visitors but it was the hosts who dominated the contest as they shone with both bat and ball.
