The most awaited U19 A Division Girls’ Basketball Tournament is set to swish the nets from the 01st of July 2016. It will be a fantastic opportunity for the youngsters to showcase their skills as the squad for the Girls’ U18 SABA Championship is set to be selected based on performances in the tournament.

Contenders

Nine top-notch girls’ schools` will compete against each other for the championship. The nine schools have been divided into two groups, namely Group A and Group B.

Group A Group B
Holy Family Convent – Colombo – 04 Good Shepherd Convent – Kotahena 
Presbytarian Girls School – Dehiwala Vishaka Vidyalaya – Colombo
Ave Maria Convent – Negombo   St. Lawrence Convent – Wellawatte
Lyceum International School – Nugegoda St. Joseph’s Girls’ School – Nugegoda
Lyceum International School – Wattala

Fixtures – U19 All Island Girls A Division

Group A

The four schools will carry a fair amount of balance in talent among them. The group stages are sure to be tough to call as the schools fight to make it to the top two spots in their group, which will take them to the semi-finals.

All the schools possess a rich background in the sport and will play three matches each.  Holy Family Convent – Colombo -04 will have the added home advantage as the group A matches will be held at the HFC courts.

Group B

Leading group B upfront are the defending champions Good Shepherd Convent – Kotahena who will take every measure to retain the trophy. They will face tough competition from St. Joseph`s Girls’ School, Nugegoda.

The matches will be played at the Good Shepherd Convent courts, giving the defending champions home court advantage.  Each team will play four matches each with the top two making it to the semi-final stage.

Finals – Live Around the Globe                                

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinal stage which will commence on the 07th of July 2016. Once the semi-finals are done, the finalists will have a ten-day break for the final match of the tournament.

The Final will be played alongside the Final of the U-19 A Division Boys’ tournament which is sponsored by ThePapare.com and named “ThePapare Basketball Championship 2016”.

The final match will be live streamed on ThePapare.com and the two teams will have a golden opportunity to put on a show in the Final.
