U19 Division I schools cricket tournament

Five games in the U19 division I schools tournament ended today all around the island, with Holy Cross College Kalutara, Richmond College Galle and St. Anthony’s College Wattala recorded outright wins.

Holy Cross College Kalutara recorded their 1st outright win of the tournament beating Dharmashoka College Ambalangoda by 3 wickets in Bandaragama today. Falling behind the visitors’ first innings total of 239 by 66 runs, the home side made a strong comeback to the game by restricting the Sokians to a mere 76 runs. Requiring 143 runs in the final session of the game, the Crusaders crawled their way towards victory in the day’s final minutes.

Sonal Awadika scored a brilliant century and Himaru Deshan captured 5 wickets in the 1st innings to keep the Crusaders in the game which eventually paved the way to this result.

Richmond’s hero opposition’s villain Sharon Abishek inspired Richmond College, Galle to yet another comprehensive win this season against St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala. The game was a low-scoring encounter with no significant performance with the bat from either side.

Amitha Sandeepa architected St. Anthony’s College, Wattala to another outright victory this season against St. Sylvester’s College Kandy. Amitha starred with both the ball and the bat capturing 8 wickets for the match and scoring a valuable 41 runs.
