St. Anthony’s College, Kandy registered a hard-fought win over Nalanda College, Colombo in their Tier A encounter of the U19 Division 1 Inter-Schools Limited Overs Tournament 2023/24 played today (23rd September) at St. Anthony’s College Grounds in Kandy.
Nalanda College Skipper Sajitha Vithanage won the toss and opted to bat first but things were not in their favour as it did not go as planned, with the visitors being bowled out for just 115 runs.
Kaveesha Piyumal decimated the Nalanda batting lineup, scalping 4 wickets for 15 runs. Charuka Ekanayake and Bimash Vidudaya also starred with the ball picking up 2 wickets each for St. Anthony’s College.
It was not a walk in the park victory for the home side as they had to fight hard in the run-chase. Even though the hosts lost wickets at regular intervals, their No. 4 batter Induwara Galapitage anchored the run-chase, scoring a fighting knock of 41 runs to put the Anthonians over the line.
