The third game of the Sri Lanka U19s Asia Cup campaign against Bangladesh U19s was abandoned due to positive COVID-19 cases among the umpiring panel.
Sri Lanka bowled first after winning the toss and the game progressed until the 33rd over when the news hit Sharjah Cricket Stadium, resulting in an immediate stoppage of play and subsequent COVID-19 protocols being implemented.
The game was later abandoned and both teams qualified for the semis, with Sri Lanka U19s going in as group-toppers.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka will play the Pakistan youth team in the first semifinals on the 30th of December in Dubai, while Bangladesh will meet India in the second semifinals on the same date.
The finals of the tournament will be played on the 31st of December 2021.
