Trinity vs S.Thomas’ cricket encounter for the Ranil Abeynaike memorial trophy

Trinity and S.Thomas’ colleges will confront each other when the Ranil Abeynaike memorial trophy goes up for grabs this weekend (Friday & Saturday) at Mount Lavinia. The late Ranil Abeynaike represented his Alma Mater from 1971 to 1973, skippering the team in his final year.

Abeynaike was a bowling all rounder, who bowled left arm spin and batted right hand.

Trinity College, Kandy has played 14 matches upto date for this season and have 10 outrights, 02 first innings wins. The highest wicket taker has been captain Ravin Sayer with 81 wickets. Arjuna Jayasinghe has been the highest runs scorer with 743 runs.

S.Thomas’ College, Mt.Lavinia have played 15 matches and have won 6 matches outright. Captain Helakamal Nanayakkara has been highest runs scorer with 576 at an average of 44.3. The leading wicket taker for the Thomians’ have been Tharidu Ratnayake with 78 wickets. In the fielding department wicket keeper Navod Fernando has taken 33 victims this season.
