Air Force won the A & B Division while Maliyadeva Balika, Sujatha Vidyalaya & Presbyterian Girls’ School won the U15, U17 & U19 championships respectively at the Eva All Island & Open Schools’ Netball Tournament 2024/25.

In the Veterans Division Flying Birds took the title and United SC won the A Division Men’s trophy.

A Division (Women’s)

In the A Division only three teams participated – Army, Air Force & Net Champs. Air Force defeated Army 40-22 and Net Champs beat Army 18-17, setting up the championship deciding game between Air Force and Net Champs.

Air Force with a wealth of experience in current and former National players took the early lead and led 11-7 at one time. They finished the half strong with a 7-2 run with the score reading 18-9.

They continued the momentum scoring a further 21 goals and only let Net Champs score 10. The final score read 39-19 giving Air Force the title for the 3rd consecutive year.

A Division (Men’s)

United defeated Lions 23-21 in a closely fought final to win the championship. The semi-finals saw United beating Rathnapura 26-23 and Lions beating Flying Birds 9-4.

U19 (Schools)

In the U19 final Presbyterian Girls’ School, Dehiwala comfortably defeated Siri Piyarathana MMV 18-8. In the semi-finals Presbyterian and Siri Piyarathana beat Karandeniya CC (14-11) & Our Lady of Victories Convent – Moratuwa (11-6) respectively.

U17 (Schools)

In the U17 final Sujatha Vidyalaya dominated Dharmapala Vidyalaya 22-13 to secure the title. In the semis Sujatha defeated Kolonnawa Balika Vidyalaya 10-8 while Dharmapala beat Weera Vijayaba MV 12-5.

U15 (Schools)

The U15 final saw Siri Piyarathana MMV once again on the losing end, this time to Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya 21-10. Maliyadeva won a close 12-11 against Anula Vidyalaya in the semis and Siri Piyarathana overcame Dharmapala 13-7 in the other semi-final.

B Division (Women’s)

Air Force B defeated Jaffna SC 12-7 in the final to win the B Division title. In their road to the final Air Force B beat Goal Getters 11-6 in the quarter finals and Speed Birds 13-12 in the semis. Jaffna SC defeated Heaven Roses 13-3 in the quarter finals and Team Blaze 24-12 in the semi final.

Veterans

Flying Birds secured the Veterans championship beating Speed Birds 17-10 in the final. In the semi-finals Speed Birds won 13-8 against Golden Bravians and Flying Birds won 13-3 against Anulians SC.
