Tissa College won the toss and elected to bat first. The batting lineup seemed a little more cautious than they were at the Big Match just over a week ago in Maggona. The captain, Malindu Ravishan, led from the front with a well-constructed half century. He batted vigilantly, leaving the good balls and hitting the loose deliveries over the boundary; 42 of his 54 came in boundaries. The captain and opener Gangul Ravina put up a 75-run partnership for the first wicket, that built a solid foundation for the Tissa innings. The middle order struggled to find any rhythm, losing regular wickets, until cameos from Dulan Avishka and Sathin Nimesh saved Tissa College and allowed them to post a respectable total of 191.

No one from the Kalutara Vidyalaya batting lineup was able to get into the groove of scoring runs. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals until the side was dismissed for just 66 runs, stumbling to an embarrassing loss against their arch rivals. The centurion from the big match and key batter for the boys from Kalutara Vidyalaya Hiruna Chathumina left the crease without scoring a run, castled by Sahan Yasindu, who led the Tissa bowling attack with 3 wickets to his name and it was all downhill from there.

Kalutara Vidyalaya’s bowling performance was a one-man-show from Dhanuka Nimmana, picking up 6 wickets for a mere 11 runs in his 10 overs. All the Tissa bowlers contributed to their attack with at least one wicket as they bundled out the opposition to claim a memorable victory.
