Thurstan take honors in rain marred match

Bad weather rigorously interfered with the inter school cricket match between Thurstan College and Holy Cross College today which took place in Kaluthara. 

 

Though 61.5 overs were sent down, Holy Cross College could only score 158 runs all out in their first innings after the visitors had scored 250 runs in their first innings on day one.

Thaveen Lakshan put on a good batting performance scoring 44 runs while Pathum Ramesh and Kalpa Shashika appeared as his support scoring 30 and 19 runs respectively. Thurstan spinners were brilliant in their art where Rajitha Perera, Ramindu Kumarasinghe and Achintha Kalpana ran through the opposition with 4, 2 and 2 wickets each.

Thurstan College in reply showed good intent scoring 139 runs for a loss of 3 wickets setting up a target of 232 as 24 overs were send down in their second innings. Kavindu Kulasekara was in blazing batting form scoring an unbeaten 43 runs while skipper Ramindu Kumarasinghe got out at 42. Minhaj Jaleel one of the best batsman during the current season could only score 23 runs today while Tharindu Silva made 27 runs.

Holy Cross College in their second innings could not get a start when the bad weather interfered their target in 1.1 overs.
