The Sri Lankan junior athletes managed to win three more medals on the fourth and final day of the 21st Asian Junior Athletics Championship.

Deneth Anuhas and Tharusha Mendis, who entered the field first for yesterday, competed in the men’s high jump event, and both of them managed to jump a height of 2.06 meters. But it wasn’t enough for them to go for a  medal, as the duo finished fourth and fifth in the event.

However in the men’s 100×4 meter event the Sri Lankan team managed to win the second place by establishhing a new junior national record.

Meanwhile, the women’s and men’s 400×4 meter races took place as the last two events of the meet, and it was spectacular to see that Sri Lanka won two bronze medals in these two events.

Accordingly, in the 21st Asian Junior Athletics Championship, Sri Lanka was able to win a total of five medals with two silver medals and three bronze medals.

It is also special that since the past, Sri Lanka has been able to win most of the medals in the relay events which have been at the top of Asia.

However, it should be mentioned here that several other medals that Sri Lanka could have won were unfortunately lost. But we must thank the Sri Lankan junior sportsmen/women for the special skills they showed in this tournament and the hopes they gave for the future.
