S. Thomas College recorded their 6th outright win of the season as they managed to beat Mahinda College by an innings and 17 runs in a game played at S. Thomas College grounds Mount Lavinia.
Winning the toss and batting first Mahinda College could only manage 90 runs for their first innings as the Thomian bowlers demolished the Mahinda batting line up. Hansika Welihinna top scored with 27 runs while Suresh Silva managed a hard fought 20.
Helakamal Nanayakkara and Tharindu Rathnayake were the pick of the bowlers as they managed 3 wickets each. Sachitha Jayathilake picked up 2 wickets for 10 while Dellon Peiris and Chenutha Wickramasinghe picked 1 wicket a piece.
S Thomas College was 139 for 6 in 35 overs at close of play on day one. Resuming on day two they managed another 68 for 4 wickets as their first innings was wrapped up for 207 all out in 48.2 overs. Helakamal Nanayakkara top scored with 71 runs while Yohan Mendis chipped in with 34 and Ravindu Sasanka scored 23.
Pasindu Dilshan stood out for Mahind College with the ball as he managed 3 wickets 31 runs while Tharaka Samarawickrama, Kalhara Jayasekara and Sachika Udara all managed to pick up 2 wickets each.
Thora cleaned up Mahinda College’s 2nd Innings for just 100 all out in 56.2 overs as the game was over before the tea break on day 2 (3.22PM). Gihan Dhanushka top scored with 28 and Kalhara Jayasekara scored 19 runs. Tharindu Rathnayake was the star with the ball for Thora as he picked 6 for 37. Dellone Peiris also chipped in with 2 for 31.
