Thihariya & Kotte women into Division II semi-finals

Thihariya SC and Kotte SC women dominated group A and group B respectively as they qualified for the semi-finals of the Premier League Women’s Division II Football Tournament.

Women’s Division II in search of fresh talent

The Football Federation of Sri Lanka has organised the Women’s Division II Club Championship which will kick-off on the 12th of November.

Group A

Thihariya Youth SC women’s team dominated proceedings, brushing aside all opposition to take top spot come the end of day one.

Thihariya SC took on the Ganemulla SC women in the day’s first clash. Thihariya were made to work hard in that affair as they managed to scrape past their opponents 1-0.

The second game featured the women’s team of Fordyce SC, Hatton up against the women of DMFL Moratuwa SC. The prior eased through to a comfortable 2-0 victory over the latter in a one sided affair.

The first game of the afternoon session saw Fordyce SC take on Thihariya Youth SC in which Thihariya Youth handed an absolute hammering to their opponents, demolishing them 10-0.

The fourth and final game of the day turned out to be yet another goal fest as Ganemulla SC took on DMFL Moratuwa SC. The game was played in the DMFL Moratuwa SC’s half throughout the sixty minutes as they were taken to the cleaners by Ganemulla SC who won 13-0.  

Group B

In group B only three out of the four participated which included Kotte SC, Ambalangoda SC and Rathnapura SC.

In the first game Kotte ran through to a 5-0 win against Ambalangoda while Ambalangoda bounced back with a 3-1 win against Rathnapura.

Kotte topped the group with another 5-0 win, this time against Rathnapura SC.

The group C & D matches will be played in the coming weeks.
