The Head of the Beira regatta will start-off this Saturday, 25th March 2017, at the Colombo Rowing Club.

The Head of the Beira regatta consists of 2 km and 2 mile races, longer and more enduring than the usual 1 km races. The boats and crews will start from the Club end and row up to the km/mile point and turn around and row back down to the Club end. The races will be on the basis of points.

The boat categories will be under single sculls, double sculls and coxed fours under both male and female. The open category will row over a course of 2 miles, while the masters will row over 2 km.

Crews from S. Thomas’ College, Royal College, Ananda College, Asian International School and St. Joseph’s College from the boys schools and Musaeus College, Ladies College, and Visakha Vidyalaya from the girls’ schools are expected to participate at the regatta. The crews from the Universities and the Colombo Rowing Club are also expected to participate.

The regatta will have an early start as the races will commence with the rise of the sun. Make your way down to the Colombo Rowing Club this Saturday morning to support your favourite crew!
