The Annual Sri Lanka Schools All Island Age Group Aquatic Championships 2025 organized by Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association (SLSASA) and powered by Nestlé Milo, marks its 50th anniversary by running this year’s competition for 6 long days, starting tomorrow 17th June and running till 22nd June at Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
The competition runs under 6 age groups ranging from under 10 to under 20, with a total of 130 individual events and 24 relay events. This competition has no entry qualification, but has the condition that one school can only enter 3 swimmers per event.

The 6 day-long competition is scheduled as follows – the 1st 3 days for the junior age categories, followed by next 3 days for the seniors. Looking back at the previous editions of this competition, SLSASA has implemented this strategy in fairness to the swimmers and their families.
The strategy aims to minimise accommodation costs and provide adequate rest for all participants. In previous editions, the last day of the competition featured relay events of all age groups which required junior swimmers – despite having completed their individual events earlier – to remain until the end of the meet. By separating the age groups across different days, SLSASA ensures a more efficient and family-friendly competition experience.

Looking back at the past performances, the St. Joseph’s College swim team has been dominating the pool, and this year they will be eying their 20th consecutive victory. On the other hand, the Girls’ championship is currently with Ladies’ College, but this time many schools will be vying the opportunity to write their names in the book.
The diving segment of the competition will be held on the 19th and 20th of June at the same venue.
