Royal College, Colombo and Bishops College, Colombo won the Diving Girls and Boys Overall Championships at the recently concluded 47th Annual Sri Lanka Schools All Island Age Group Aquatic Championships 2022.
The Royal team of 15 divers excelled with a total of 244 points and four individual Age Group Champions. 12 Bishopians, including two individual Age Group Champions, sealed their win with 175 points.
Royal College Diving is guided by old Royalist, Prasad Dissanayake, and Bishops College Diving is coached by Kasun De Silva.
The Age Group Champions are as follows –
Under 14
Girls – Vinudi Kankanamge from Visakha Vidyalaya
Boys – Mikhail Jayaweera from Royal College
Under 16
Girls – Sineli Weerakoon from Bishop’s College
Boys – Seniru Rodrigo from Royal College
Under 18
Girls – Kithmi Marambe from Bishop’s College
Boys – Venuka Kankanamge from Royal College
Under 20
Girls – Senuri Wettasinghe from St. Bridget’s Convent
Boys – Matheesha Marambe from Royal College
S.Thomas’ College and St. Bridget’s Convent emerged as Runners-up in the competition.
Additionally, all the divers participated in the competition from 10 schools: Royal College, Bishop’s College, St. Bridget’s Convent, S. Thomas’ College, St. Joseph’s College, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Ladies’ College, Zahira College, Lyceum International School Wattala and Visakha Vidyalaya performed a marvelous diving display at the closing ceremony, fascinating the crowd.
