Thai golfer Ekpharit Wu led the way in the Men’s Championship at the ongoing Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, after finishing round 1 with a gross score of 67. Having come out on top, he was able to clinch the Victoria Cup for the best gross score in the 1st round.

Hemendra Choudary of India, M.Arumugam and Sisira Kumara of Sri Lanka along with Witchayanon  Chothirunrungrueng of Thailand  are tied in 2nd place with scores of 70.

Wu’s and Chothirunrungrueng’s performances yesterday helped them reach a score of 137 and saw Thailand lead the international team event for the Parlakamedi Trophy, which is to be held over the course of the two day tournament. Sri Lankan duo Arumugam and N. Ranga are in 2nd place having a gross score of 141.

This is the 128th edition of the Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship and is sponsored by Litro Gas. The tournament has seen participants from 6 countries from the Asian region, namely, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Thailand and hosts Sri Lanka.

The Ladies’ Championship is scheduled to take place today, 1st of December.
