Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) has secured the hosting rights for the prestigious Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship 2026, bringing some of the region’s finest young golfers to the island for a major international event.
The championship will be held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club from June 17 to 19 and is expected to showcase the best junior golfing talent in the Asia-Pacific region.
A total of 64 junior golfers from 15 countries will compete in the three-day tournament. The participating nations are Singapore, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, India, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Myanmar, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines and host nation Sri Lanka.
The championship will be played over 54 holes in a stroke-play format and will feature Individual Boys and Girls events, Boys Team, Girls Team and Mixed Team competitions. Eligible participants are amateur boys and girls aged 17 and under as of June 17, 2026, representing their respective countries.
The hosts will field four boys’ teams and four girls’ teams, with players selected from Colombo, Kandy, Anuradhapura and Nuwara Eliya.
Former Sri Lankan professional golfer Mithun Perera has been appointed as the team’s coach, while Tharanga Gunasekara will serve as Team Manager.
