Kandy Sports Club was crowned as the new league title holders after a lapse of two years on points aggregate despite losing the encounter against Navy Sports Club in a close one point margin (12-11) at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium this evening.
CR & FC ended their season on a winning note as they beat Police Sports Club by a single point in a cliff-hanger of a game played today at the Race course grounds in Colombo.
It is always difficult to beat Kandy S.C at Nittawela but winning with a bonus point or not conceding a losing bonus point is really a tough task for the defending champions Navy S.C
CR&FC recorded their first victory in the second round when they beat Air force 17 (2 tries, 2 conversion, 1 penalties) to 13(2 tries, 1 drop goal) in a Dialog Rugby League “A” Division match played at Air Force Ground yesterday. At half time CR led 17-5.
Kandy Sports Club staged a superb comeback to overcome a mighty Havelock SC offense and take home the win with a 22-20 score.
Defending champions Navy still top the table after beating CR&FC convincingly, but Kandy beating Army makes only a point different in the second spot with an extra game in hand.
