St Sebastians beat De Mazenod by 159

Sangeeth Cooray smashed a brilliant century to lead St. Sebastian’s College to a crushing 159 run win over De Mazenod College in their U-19 school cricket match concluded at Moratuwa today.

After being bowled out for 51 runs in the first innings where bowlers dominated the proceeding, hosts recovered well in the second innings to score a massive 262 on the back of Cooray’s ton. Luke Jayadeva also contributed with a valuable 42 while Shan Fernando hit 35 to leave a target of 266 runs to win. Shaluka Deemantha who took four for 11 in the first innings added four more in the second innings for 71 runs to finish with a match bag of eight for 82 runs. Rukshan Fernando (2 for 38) and Lahiru Wickramasinghe (2 for 42) also grabbed two wicket apiece.

De Mazenod in chasing were bowled out for 108 runs in the second inning with Isuru Mendis claiming six for 25 runs while Lahiru Heshan who took four for 11 in the first innings added two for 25 in the second innings. Shan Fernando also took two for 25 to go with his two for six runs.
