St. Peter’s College overall champions

Peterite swimmers created history in the All Island National Schools Swimming Championship by winning the Overall Championship for the first time collecting 33 points as the apex school meet concluded in Colombo recently. Peterite swimmer Alalanka Peiris was crowned the Overall Champion Swimmer.

Akalanka Peiris competing in the under 15 age category clinched the first places in the 100M free style, 50M back stroke, 50M dolphin and 200M individual medley events. By virtue of his achievements Akalanka Peiris was adjudged the Overall Champion Swimmer.

In the under 15 medley relay event Akalanka Peiris, Rasitha Perera, Nuwanga Fernando and Nimesh Wimalasiri won the second place. In the same age category free style relay event Akalanka Peiris, Rasitha Perera, Adithya Nanayakkara and Nimesh Wimalasiri secured the third place. Devin Ranasinghe emerged fourth in the under 15 breast stroke individual event.

In the under 17 age category medley relay and free style relay events Peterite swimmers Vinul Gunawardene, Dehan Fernando, Geethanjana Perera and Praveen Ukwatte won the third place.

Rasitha Perera, Dehan Fernando and Nuwanga Fernando emerged third in their while Devin Ranasinghe became fifth in their respective individual events.

Rev. Fr. Trevor Martin the Rector of St. Peter’s College. Colombo 04 and the Sports Coordinator Rev. Fr. Sharm Dassanayake were highly commended the Peterite swimmers on their historic achievement. They also thanked the Sports Secretary Troy Bartlet, Master in Charge Jude Denzil Fernando, Assistant Teacher in Charge Sujeewa Dias, the Coaches Mahi Chadralal, Upul Wijithasiri and Rajindra Perera for their immesursble contribution for bring glory and honour to St. Peter’s College.
