St. Joseph’s College thrashed St. Sebastian’s College to enter semi-finals in the Singer U19 two-day tournament quarter- finals concluded today at Thurstan grounds.

The lads from Moratuwa started day two on 22 for 1 chasing 361, the Sebastian innings was going nowhere with wickets falling around Nuwanidu Fernando.

Both left-arm spinners Dunith Wellalage and Miranga Wickramage were outstanding with their variations and the 361-target played in to their hands as the Sebs faulted under pressure.

Sri Lanka youth cap Nuwanidu Fernando was the only shining light for St. Sebastians with an excellent 90, but once he got out, things got worse for the Moratuwa boys.

St. Sebastian’s eventually got bowled out for 211 after a stubborn resistance from Vinuja Ranasinghe and Praveen Jayawickrama and the Josephians cruised to victory by 149 runs to brush away the lads from Moratuwa.

St. Joseph’s College will meet Mahanama College in the semi-finals after they advanced, defeating high-riding Mahinda College in the quarter- finals.
