South Africa registered a 76-run win over Sri Lanka in the sixth match of Women’s Tri-Nation ODI Series 2025 played today (9th May) at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
Having been asked to bat first, South Africa posted 315 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs on the back of a brilliant century from Annerie Dercksen.
Dercksen made 104 runs off 84 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes while middle order batter Chloe Tryon contributed with useful 74 runs.
For Sri Lanka, the 19-year old Dewmi Vihanga stood out with the ball as she snared 5 wickets for 43 runs becoming the youngest Sri Lankan to claim a five-fer in Women’s ODIs.
In reply, Sri Lanka made only 239 runs despite the skipper Chamari Athapaththu finding her rhythm back with an excellent fifty.
Tryon who impressed with the bat earlier in the day with a half-century, showcased her skills with the ball picking up 5 wickets including a hat-trick.
Sri Lanka will meet India in the final of the series which will be played on the 11th May at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
