In a dramatic turn of events, Zimbabwe delivered a crushing blow to Sri Lanka in the second T20I of their three-match series at Harare Sports Club, leveling the series at 1-1.
Sri Lanka, sent in to bat first after Zimbabwe won the toss, suffered a catastrophic batting collapse, bowled out for a mere 80 runs—their second-lowest T20I total and their lowest ever against Zimbabwe.

- Zimbabwe include veteran for T20I series against Sri Lanka
Opting to bowl first, Zimbabwe’s bowlers exploited the conditions brilliantly, dismantling Sri Lanka’s batting lineup in just 17.4 overs. Off-spinner Sikandar Raza and fast bowler Brad Evans led the charge, each claiming 3 wickets to trigger a collapse that left the visitors reeling at 80 all-out.
This marked Sri Lanka’s second-lowest T20I score, only surpassing their 77 against South Africa in 2016, and their lowest total against Zimbabwe in the format.
Chasing an easy target of 81, Zimbabwe faced a stern test from Sri Lanka’s bowlers, particularly Dushmantha Chameera, who delivered a superb spell of 3 wickets for 19 runs in his 4 overs. Chameera’s pace and accuracy troubled the hosts, removing key batters and keeping Sri Lanka in the fight despite their paltry total.
However, Zimbabwe’s resilience prevailed, with contributions across the batting order ensuring they reached the target in the 15th over, losing 5 wickets in the process.
The third and final T20I of the three-match series will be played tomorrow (7th September) at the same venue. Watch it LIVE on ThePapare 1 and ThePapare 1 HD (Dialog Television Ch. 62 and 126) and Dialog ViU app.
