Pakistan registered a comfortable win over Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the three-match series in Rawalpindi, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead with a game to spare.
Having won the toss, Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis opted to bowl first and made three changes to the playing XI, bringing in Sineth Jayawardene, Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Binura Fernando in place of Kamil Mishara, Dunith Wellalage and Dushmantha Chameera.
Pakistan produced another dominant batting performance to post a formidable total of 215/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Maaz Sadaqat led the charge with a brilliant 96 off 51 deliveries, striking 6 fours and 7 sixes. Pakistan skipper Sahibzada Farhan also played a crucial role, scoring 73 off 44 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes.
In reply, Sri Lanka failed to keep pace with the required run rate and managed only 133/7 in their 20 overs. Maheesh Theekshana top-scored with 32 runs, while Chamindu Wickramasinghe contributed 29, but the rest of the batting lineup could not provide the support needed to challenge Pakistan’s imposing total.
Mohammad Imran was the standout performer with the ball for Pakistan, claiming 3 wickets for just 11 runs to derail Sri Lanka’s chase.
