The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee has named a 20-member T20I squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, which will commence on 27th August in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The middle order batters Dinesh Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva, who were overlooked for Australia T20I series, have returned to the squad.
The speedster Kasun Rajitha, who was part of Sri Lanka’s T20 squad against Australia in their last series, has been excluded from the touring squad due to an injury sustained during the recently concluded SLC Invitational T20 League.

The left-arm seamer Binura Fernando, who had been originally selected to the squad, will not join the touring party as he too sustained an injury during the SLC Invitational T20 League.
Sri Lanka’s newest fast bowling sensations, Pramod Madushan and Dilshan Madushanka, have been named as replacements for the injured fast bowling duo.
Asitha Fernando, who won the Player of the Series in the recently-concluded SLC Invitational T20 League, taking 10 wickets in 4 matches at 11.00 as the leading wicket-taker has found a place in the squad.

The Sri Lanka team will leave the country on the 24th August to take part in the Asia Cup, which will be played from 27th August to 11th September at Dubai and Sharjah. The tournament will kick off with Sri Lanka’s first game of the Asia Cup against Afghanistan, at Dubai.
