Sri Lanka Cricket have obtained the services of Dr. Phil Jauncey, the Australia-based performance psychologist, for the upcoming five-match ODI series against England, which commences on 10th October in Dambulla.
This will be the third stint for Jauncey in Sri Lanka, after he held two sessions with the national cricket team in January and May earlier this year.
After a disappointing run in the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka will be hosting England in 5 ODIs, a T20 and 3 Tests. The ODI series will commence…….
Jauncey was seen speaking individually to players along with Hathurusingha during their training session at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Monday(8th).
He will work closely with the entire squad until the 23rd of October, as the hosts Sri Lanka look to defeat the high-riding, world number one ranked English side.
“So that’s the end, and Mahela Jayawardena has got a wicket, stumped by Sangakkara. How ironical is that!” – Ranjith Fernando……
His services were recommended to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) by head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, after they worked together for Sydney Thunder (Australian Big Bash Franchise) and the Bangladesh Cricket team in the past.
A lecturer in the field of psychology, Jauncey has worked as the psychologist of Australian Baseball and the Queensland Bulls Cricket team. Jauncey was the mental skills coach with the Brisbane Lions AFL team from 1994 to 2008 and sports psychologist with the Brisbane Broncos NRL team.
