Week Two of the Sri Lanka Football Champions League came to an end yesterday, with fascinating football on display throughout the weekend at the Racecourse International Stadium.

The tournament resumed last Friday, with Matara City stepping onto the field for the first time this campaign against Sri Lanka Police, only to suffer a heavy defeat. Sri Lanka Police netted five goals past Matara City as the campaign resumed after what had been a disastrous couple of weeks for Sri Lankans due to Cyclone “Ditwah”. Later that day, New Star ran riot against Sri Lanka Transport Board, handing them their second successive heavy defeat of the tournament as they netted eight goals while holding onto a cleansheet.
