The second day of the 51st Senior Nationals 2018, tipped off at the Sri Lanka Army, Indoor Basketball Stadium in Panagoda. The second set of four matches were scheduled on day two. Here is look at what happened.

Hambanthota District Basketball Association (HDBA) took on Gampaha District Basketball Association (GDBA) which ended in a one-point thriller. The 1st half went in the favor of HDBA but it was the second half that saw the tables turn in the game.

HDBA scored 13 points in the maiden quarter in reply to the 09 made by the opposition. The same form continued into the second quarter, as they added another 15 points. GDBA only managed 07 points.

The third quarter saw both teams go neck and neck. Both the teams went on to score 15 points each. This helped GDBA catch up with the lead and get a foot back into the game. Going into the final quarter of the match, GDBA scored a game high of 19 points and HDBA only managed 08.

Despite the stunning comeback, the scores read 50-51, at full time as GDBA fell short by one point.

Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) took on Sri Lanka School Boys’ Team (SLSB) in another encounter on day two. The match ended in favor of MSBA, 55-47. MSBA did not get the best of starts in the game, scoring only 04 points in the first quarter. SLSB scored 14 points.

Coming into the second quarter, the all-star mercantile team found form and added 14 points. SLSB only managed 08 points. The same form continued for MSBA in the third quarter with 14 points and they scored a game-high of 19 points in the last quarter. SLSB did score 18 points in the final quarter but a low score of 07 points in third quarter, halted their way to victory.

Two more matches were played on day 02. Sri Lanka Police BC (SLP) took on Sri Lanka Army (SLA) which was won by the soldiers 67-65. The fourth encounter was played between Puttalam District Basketball Association (PDBA) and Sri Lanka Navy BC (SLN). The Sea-men recorded a comfortable victory, winning the encounter 84-53.
