The 51st Senior Nationals Basketball Championship commenced today in Kandy as the Level II matches were played in both men`s and women`s categories.
Out of the three matches that were played today, Jaffna District BA received a walk-over as the Gampaha District BA did not arrive at the playing premises. The second match for the day was played between Kandy District BA and Polonaruwa District BA. Home team cursing to victory won the game as the full time scores read 70-02. The third and final match of the first day was played between Rathanapura District BA v Matara District BA. The closely contested affair was won by Rathnapura District BA as the final scorecard read 21-14.
